The closure began on 29 April 2025 and will remain closed until construction is complete. However, you can still use the boat ramp at specified times/days in the year.

Info. on Ermington Boat ramp closure

Traffic Changes
Whilst it is the normal way to enter the boat ramp, a turning circle has been paved to facilitate an exit from the normal entry point. The images below show the new layout of the road. You can prepare your vessel near the amenities block as usual, however you will exit by following the newly paved road to go back onto wharf road.

Amenities Block
The amenities block is no longer accessible to the public. It has been completely closed off with temporary fencing. This closure applies even during the times when the boat ramp is open to the public. Perhaps you can come prepared or use nearby public toilets at kissing point boat ramp.

Car and trailer parking
You can no longer use the car and trailer parking. It is now a construction site closed off with temporary fencing. You will need to park in a designated nearby parking location at 112 Wharf road. This is a short 2 minute walk from the boat ramp. There is plenty of marked parking spaces for cars and trailers and designated parking spaces for cars only.
There is a large VMS board at the entrance of the parking location to ensure you don’t miss the entrance. You will see a large gate at the entrance of the designated parking location that can be locked by council if required.

Special Markers
The most notable change you’ll realise at the boat ramp is the removal of large trees and mangroves at the entrance of the boat ramp. You will now see special markers just outside the clearing zone of the mangroves with booms to contain any environmental spills from the shore on both sides of the river.
This will make the channel considerably narrow. Be aware of ferries and other vessels travelling through this narrow part of the channel.
