Coxswain Grade 3

Overview:

There are multiple ways to get a Coxswain grade 3 licence. We offer an easy 1 day course that includes theory, practical and sea time. If you do not hold any recreational licence, you will need to firslty demonstrate practical experience and pass the Theory Knowledge test for the NSW GBL. This course will cover the practical component, theory component and the knowledge test all on the very same day. Once you finish this course you will qualify for a NSW General Boat Licence (GBL). We will also conduct the 1 day sea service as required by AMSA and complete all the relevant practical components for the Coxswain Grade 3 licence.

Certification:

Take the paperwork we give you at the end of your course to Service NSW and you can get a General Boat Licence on the spot. You will now be able to drive any recreational vessel in NSW. You will then take the paperwork we give you for the Coxswain grade 3 and all relevant documentation to lodge with Australia Post. Your paperwork will be sent to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority where they will issue you a Coxswain grade 3 licence.

Learning Outcomes:

In the practical component of your course, you will learn the basics of safety on a vessel, how to operate a vessel and the parts of a boat. Our trainers will go through a series of tasks with you that include slow speed manoeuvres, Man Overboard (MOB) simulations, high speed manoeuvres and group activities such as beaching, anchoring and mooring a vessel. You will also learn basic knots and how to dock a vessel.
